OBHA AWARDS BANQUET
NOVEMBER 2010
Presentation
(July 26, 2006)
Please join us in honoring one of the best players to have ever come through our ball hockey community, Kevin Allan Lord.
Kevin started in our minor system at the age of 12 and was an integral part of each team he played on. His commitment to excellence and his drive to succeed was second to none, something he also tried to instil in the young kids he would later help coach and befriend. Kevin became a great player and one of our brightest stars, representing us at provincials and later representing Canada as a member of the National Junior Team .
As our ball hockey community is very close it is with great pleasure that you are all invited to the Beeton Arena at 9:30 on Thursday July 27th as the executive of the OBHA and the Canadian Ball Hockey Association present to Kevin’s parents, Al and Judy, Kevin's Team Canada # 86 sweater that he was to wear at the 2006 World Junior championships in Italy this past June.
We look forward to seeing you all there and celebrate with us the greatness and humility that was and will always be

Kevin Lord Remembered
May 4, 2006 (By Wendy Soloduik)
Players in the Men’s division of the Beeton Ball Hockey League took a moment to remember their fallen friend, Kevin Lord. Kevin, an accomplished ball and ice hockey player, passed away Saturday April 29th, after a long battle with cancer. The BBHL executive, as well as Kevin’s teammates and friends, paid homage to his memory with a candle-lit vigil, and a moment of silence.
The event was organized by BBHL president Carlo Carlucci, who distributed candles out to each player, and the men, normally full of competition, were still and quiet. Out of respect, the arena lights were turned off. Kevin’s parents, Al and Judy Lord, held the only red candle, which once lit, was used to light the rest of the white candles held by each player. The Lord’s stood between two rows of players (about 100 men, or all six teams), and were joined by Steve Dockerty and Bill Houston, of the BBHL executive.
The word about Kevin’s tribute had spread quickly on its own, and the stands were full of friends and on-lookers. There were very few dry eyes in the house. Mourners listened to a message recorded by Carlucci, followed by the song “Run,” by Snow Patrol, as chosen by his best friend Brayden Dockerty. An excerpt from the tribute is as follows:
“We’d like to take a few moments to honour a young man who has left quite an impact on our lives. For many of us, we watched Kevin Lord grow up in this very building. He spent his early years playing ice hockey with many of you and then rejoined us during the last number of years through the sport of ball hockey both in the minor’s league and most recently in the men’s league. Kevin was a tremendous young leader who has left his mark on this sport and all of us personally. Whether it was on the floor, on the bench or in the dressing room, we should all feel very fortunate to have shared part of our lives with Kevin. He will be sadly missed, and never forgotten.”
A minute of silence was then observed, which ended with Carlucci exhausting his candle. It was a powerful moment at the Beeton Arena, one that will not be forgotten easily.
In memory of Kevin Lord, 1986-2006.
