2024 SUMMER MEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISIONS OFFERED

DIVISION BIRTH YEAR
18+ 2006 (and older)
30+ 1995 (and older)

**players under 18 years of age must wear facial protection
**players in their 29th year (born in 1995) will be permitted in the Masters 30+ division

**players younger than 30 years of age preferring a less competitive environment will be permitted in the 30+ division, with league approval.

  PLAYING SEASON / GAME NIGHTS
The SUMMER MEN'S divisions will start as follows:
Men's 30+ / Monday April 15th
Men's 18+ / Thursday April 18th
*Beeton Arena for both divisions


TEAM STRUCTURE

All players will register as individuals and there'll be a draft to select teams. There'll be 8 teams in the 18+ division and 4-6 teams in the 30+ division.

  • Game times: roughly 7:00 / 8:00 / 9:00
  • Individual registration only
  • Born in 2006 or older

  • Game times: 12:00 / 1:00 / 2:00 (6 teams maximum)
  • Team entry only
  • Born in 2006 or older
  • $2800 / team

Mandatory

- C.S.A. approved helmet
- hockey gloves
- running shoes
- stick
- team jersey (supplied)

Optional
elbow pads
- shin protection
- knee protection

Not Permitted
- ice hockey shin pads
- shoulder pads

 


PLAYING FORMAT & RULES

GAME FORMAT
- 2-16 minute periods / stop time

- Regular season tied games will have the following procedure to decide a winner:
* 3 player shoot-out 
* if still tied, same 3 players in same sequence
* a coin flip will decide the team that shoots first


- Playoff ROUND-ROBIN tied games will have the following procedure to decide a winner:
* 3 player shoot-out
* if still tied, same 3 players in same sequence
* a coin flip will decide the team that shoots first



- Playoff SEMI-FINAL tied games will have the following procedure to decide a winner:
* 5 minute OT - 4 on 4
* 3 player shoot-out
*if still tied, teams will need to use new players until one team has exhausted all their players, then both teams can resume with 1st player during the same round
* a coin flip will decide the team that shoots first



- Playoff FINAL tied game will have the following procedure to decide a winner:
* 5 minute OT - 4 on 4
* 5 minute OT - 3 on 3
* 3 player shoot-out
*if still tied, teams will need to use new players until one team has exhausted all their players, then both teams can resume with 1st player during the same round
* a coin flip will decide the team that shoots first



- 1 time out per team per period for all regular season and playoff games

- 4 minute 'stick' penalty in effect for slashing, high-sticking or cross-checking
(player will serve the entire 4 minute minor but only 1 powerplay goal permitted for the opposing team)

- 'Head check' penalty in effect
(player will serve either 2 or 4 minutes depending on 1st point of contact as judged by official)


- no 'sliding' to take out an opponent
(whether you touch the ball first or not)

STANDINGS FORMAT
- 14 game regular season / 3 game round-robin playoff (Summer Men's league)
- 12 game regular season / 5 game round-robin playoff (Summer Master's league)
- 10 game regular season / 8 game playoff (Winter league)

- 3 points for a regulation time win
- 2 points for a shoot-out OR overtime win
- 1 point for a shoot-out OR overtime loss

- In the event of a tie in standings in either the regular season or playoffs, the following tie-breaking rules will be in effect:
*most regulation time wins
*most overall wins
*head to head record (if 2 teams are tied)
*goal differential percentage chart
(goals for / goals for + goals against)

 




MAJOR PENALTIES & SUSPENSIONS  

GAME EJECTION

Any player that receives 3 infractions in one game will be ejected from the game as well as:

-1st offence (no suspension)
-2nd offence (1 game suspension)
-3rd offence (2 game suspension)
-4th offence (league review)

 
5 MINUTE MAJOR
-Ejected from the game plus a 1 game suspension

 
10 MINUTE MISCONDUCT
The incident will be reviewed and:
-If deemed accepted by player at time of incident (no suspension)
-If leads to a game misconduct, then a suspension will apply as mentioned below

 
GAME MISCONDUCT
-1st offence (1 game suspension)
-2nd offence (2 game suspension)
-3rd offence (4 game suspension)
-4th offence (league review)

 
GROSS MISCONDUCT
-1st offence (2 game suspension)
-2nd offence (4 game suspension)
-3rd offence (league review)

 
ACCUMULATIVE PENALTY MINUTES
(Not including misconducts)
-30 minutes (1 game suspension)
-40 minutes (2 game suspension and league review)
*Minutes will continue to accumulate through playoff games

 
FIGHTING
-1st offence (up to 5 game suspension)
-2nd offence (1 year and league review for reinstatement)

 
MATCH PENALTY
-1st offence (5 game suspension)
-2nd offence (1 year and league review for reinstatement)

 
**All of the above infractions are based on the calls made by the officials and as indicated on the game sheets (all of the above infractions will go through a review process involving the player, officials, team captains and NTBHL executive and are subject to be modified according to the severity of the incident)
 
**At the conclusion of each season, the league will review the discipline history of players and decide if a player will be permitted to participate the following year
