WHAT OUR AWARD CANDIDATES HAD TO SAY ABOUT THEIR BALL HOCKEY CAREERS IN THE NTBHL
The Kevin Lord award is a huge honour and would be the best way to cap off such an amazing experience. Ball hockey within this community has meant the world to me, experiences that I will cherish and friendships that will last forever. To be nominated for this award is a huge deal and is a great accomplishment for me and everyone that has helped me along the way.
I feel that I demonstrate positive leadership and commitment qualities on the ice, off the ice and in my schooling. Each chance I have I love to try and grow the game. People always ask how I’ve gotten into such a high level of ball hockey, and there is always just so much to tell them. School has always been a large part of my life. Within the chaos that school brings I am thankful that I have had ball hockey as well as other sports to give myself the opportunity to expand my interests and take my mind away from schooling. This league has been a massive part of my childhood and I am grateful for every opportunity it has have given me. I have a strong passion for the game of ball hockey and hope to play for many years to come, in the highly competitive mens leagues. It has been an honour to be nominated for this prestigious award. Thank you for your consideration.
I am honoured to be nominated for this award and would be thrilled to receive the award. As a player in the league i feel I have been a positive role model and sportsman throughtout my participation the past 10 years. My all star awards at both the provincial and national level demonstrate my ability to play ball hockey at a high level while representing my association with leadership, class and sportsmanship.
In the future I hope to stay involved in ball hockey by volunteering to help coach.
I am honored to be considered for this prestigious award. I have heard many stories about Kevin and the type of player, teammate and friend that he was to so many. I am humbled by this selection. My time spent playing ball hockey has been some of my best athletic memories of any sport that I have participated in. My travels across Canada for ball hockey and the friendships made and strengthened are what keeps me coming back each year. I look forward to, many more years in the league and in hopes of representing the NTBHL in the future.
Thank you again for this incredible honor.
When visiting my university campus this spring I inquired about the opportunities for playing Ball Hockey and there is in fact a developing university league with other universities in southern Ontario. I hope to help grow the game that I have grown up loving while at university, and continue to compete at national level.
Over the past 15 years I have eagerly played ball hockey with the NTBHL organization. My parents frequently reminisce about my very first season playing ball hockey when I was just 3 and a half years old. I was so excited to get my first helmet and my very own ball hockey stick. Even at that age, I loved the opportunity I had to run around with others boys and girls learning all about the sport and team work. Today, 15 years later, I still look forward to strapping on my d-gels and my helmet, as I play on my team, with players that have become great friends over the years.
Ball hockey has been a constant in my spring and summer activities. Each week, I look forward to the idea of playing, gaining skills and having fun, while competing with friends without any pressure. Playing on the Provincial teams has given me that competitive play that I crave. To play such an amazing sport against the top teams in our Province is an honour I will always treasure. Indeed, I have created many long lasting friendships and travelled to parts of Ontario sharing many memories as a member of the NTBHL.
It is hard to believe for the past two summers, and now again this summer, I have played, and I will be playing on the National team. In 2016 and then 2018, my family travelled to Edmonton, Alberta and Fredericton, New Brunswick to support the team and I. Travelling to these tournaments even gave my family an opportunity to travel to different parts of Canada, we might not have seen, if I had not been on the team. Flying to Edmonton and driving out East, were adventures that my family will never forget. I had the best experience, playing ball hockey at the National level and sharing experiences with my teammates and creating family memories. I love playing sports. I have an athletic soul! I pride myself in working and playing extremely hard, at the same time, I am always demonstrating excellent sportsmanship. Unfortunately, I never had an opportunity to meet Kevin Lord. Upon hearing about what kind of person he was, I am truly honoured to be considered for an award worthy of his name. Thank you for the opportunity to be included in this nomination.
